These terms apply when you use typewatch.app. By using it you agree to them. They're written to be read, so please do.

What Typewatch is
A free website that shows which aircraft are flying right now, grouped by aircraft type, operator and country of registration, with photos. Its aircraft data comes from adsb.lol, a community network of volunteer receivers, and its photos from Planespotters.net.
What it isn't
Typewatch is for interest only. Never use it for navigation, safety, air traffic or any decision where being wrong matters. Its data can be incomplete, late or wrong. Coverage has large gaps, so an aircraft we don't show may well be flying, and one we show as "probably landed" may not have. Types, operators and photos can be wrong; we fix them when we find out.
Your account
- Browsing needs no account. An account is free and is for favourites, alerts and reports.
- Use your own email address, keep your password to yourself, and tell us if you think someone else has got into your account.
- One account per person.
- You can delete your account at any time on its page. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms.
Fair use
Please don't:
- use Typewatch to follow, find or harass a person;
- try to identify, or work out the movements of, an aircraft whose owner asked for privacy, or get round how we hide them;
- scrape the site, call its data API from scripts, or otherwise load it heavily or automatically (the data comes from free community services with limits, and heavy use takes their capacity from everyone);
- try to break into, test the security of, or disrupt the site or other people's accounts;
- send false or abusive reports.
Photos and data
- Photos belong to their photographers. Each is shown from Planespotters.net, credited and linked to the original. Don't copy or reuse them from Typewatch; ask the photographer through Planespotters.net.
- Aircraft data is from adsb.lol and operator names from OpenFlights, both under the Open Database License.
- Typewatch's own work (its design, code, type names and text) belongs to us.
Reports
When you report a wrong photo or type, you let us use the report to correct Typewatch, and to pass the correction (the facts about the aircraft, never your name or email) on to adsb.lol or Planespotters.net. A person checks every report before anything changes.
Donations
Donations through Ko-fi are voluntary gifts to help pay Typewatch's running costs. They buy nothing: no extra features, no influence over what's shown, no account perks. Ko-fi's and PayPal's terms apply to the payment. If you donated by mistake, write to us within 14 days and we'll refund it.
The service
Typewatch is provided as it is, free. We aim to keep it running but can't promise it will always be available or error-free, and we may change or stop any part of it.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for any loss that comes from using Typewatch or relying on what it shows. Nothing in these terms limits any liability, or takes away any right you have, that the law doesn't allow to be limited or removed.
Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change matters to account holders, we'll email them before it applies.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of South Africa.
